Askrigg, Wensleydale and the Yorkshire Dales
Askrigg nestles on the northern slopes of Wensleydale five miles down the valley from Hawes.
Askrigg
Askrigg is a former medieval market town situated in the heart of Wensleydale. The village retains much of its traditional character with its 13th Century parish church and many fine 17th & 18th Century houses. Present day Askrigg has a village shop/tearoom, post office, 3 pubs, a restaurant and café (Sticky Ginger) with fresh/frozen meals to take out. Sticky Ginger also provide a good choice of sandwiches for packed lunches.
For the walker Askrigg is the base for many excellent walks through the Dale which can be linked to the regular bus service operating in the Dale to provide longer routes. For those wishing for shorter walks, the village has a number of handy and enjoyable circular walks.
